Behind the Whanganui Web Log

I’m a retired merchant navy ships’ chief engineer. Previous to that, I survived 20 years in the Royal New Zealand Navy. I was born and bred in Dunedin, spent much of my life traveling and living in places as disparate as South Korea, Scotland and Fiji.
I’ve chosen to retire in Wanganui.
I provide free computer help to volunteer organizations, the Experts’ Exchange and a few retired folk.
Computers, web design, photography and graphics are my retirement vocation. I’m interested in science and technology, politics, economics, philosophy, the environment and a lot of other stuff. That stuff ends up on my other web log:
- At my wits’ end, politics, science, environment, computers, whatever…
Please email me: alan at mywitsend dot co dot nz (sorry about the way that’s written - it’s to try to stop the auto spammers) about absolutely anything at all.

Tony:
Thanks for starting up this blog. I’m ex-Wanganui, and will be checking in regularly. It’s a great town, and I hope to retire there myself (we’ll see what Little Miss Apartment-in-New-York has to say about that though).

Thanks for dropping in Tony,
You’re my second non-spam contributor. :o)
If you’re in the US you may also find something of interest on my other new blog, http://mistywindow.co.nz/. It started as a computer blog, but I’ve morphed it into a Kiwi blog. Some of it is duplicated in the Wanganui blog, but henceforth that will change.
It’s my intention to try to post every day or two on both these blogs.
Alan.
